A local stroll…Kennett Square, Pennsylvnia

Last Friday, while the guys were doing “guys stuff”, the girls and I decided to take advantage of the local and the FREE. We decided to go the First Friday Art Stroll of Kennettt Square, Pennsylvania. The public is invited to visit Kennett Square’s unique, independently owned shops, galleries, and restaurants and enjoy special exhibits, refreshments, and live music. The Kennett Square Farmers Market kicks off the monthly Art Stroll with various vendors selling greens, eggs, baked goods, honey & jams, meats & cheeses, and much more.  On First Fridays there are also a variety of crafters selling their work. The Market is located on State Street and the brick walkway next to the Genesis HealthCare building at 101 East State Street.
While there wasn’t much art on the sidewalks, there were a few of the quaint art galleries that had their doors opened, welcoming perusers with nice music, hors d’oeuvres and wine. That was generally the ambience along the entire stroll. I soooo wish that I could have gone to the Wine Tasting Room, but I had the kiddos…Oh well!

The boutiques were so cute and the owners were very nice and helpful. If you’re local and want to find something chic and upscale, check out Ashley Austin Boutique. For the ecclectic taste, one of a kind accessories, and the lover of all things vintage, Green Eyed Lady is A MUST!! And for the foodie, please don’t let the name fool you, The Mushroom Cap, is filled with homemade sauces, jellies and jams and spices galore. I would never imagine that I would try them and like them, but the owner, Kathi Lafferty invented the Snack N Shrooms. I tried the garlic flavor and picked up a bag for the hubby. He loves ‘shrooms. You can find them at Whole Foods (I know the one here in Glen Mills). And Oh, The Mushroom Cap even had a children’s consignment store downstairs! Sweet….
All in all this little stretch of boutiques, galleries and restaurants is a complete package for all ages and interests, especially when you have time to take the stroll and soak up sights and sounds — on any day, not just the first Friday. Enjoy!

Our absolute most FAVORITE boutique was having a “Mommy’s Night Out” during our stroll, so we weren’t able to go in and visit, but we still stopped by to say, “Hello!”  If you are looking for the most adorable finds for babies, toddlers and kids, stop by bedbugzz…   It is the designer savvy mom’s heaven! You will not be disappointed! Kathy, the owner, is the BEST! My girls love her!

If you get a chance to stop by, tell them Smart & Sassy Mom sent you!
